Maybe I write about what to wear to much but I just can’t help it! I LOVE clothes and fashion! Jumpers, denim, shoes and statement pieces are my jam! What you wear on your shoot has a huge impact in the overall outcome of your photo’s, you don’t want to blend into the background but you also don’t want your clothes to become such a distraction they outshine you and your love.
When it comes to any session the most important advice I can give you is wear solid colors or minimal patterns! Patterns can appear distorted and are near impossible to Photoshop. If the wind blows your shirt and makes you appear wider theres not much I can do to fix that appearance if you are wearing a busy pattern. I would however suggest texture to add awesome dimension to your photographs.
My ultimate goal is to photograph the true love and essence between you and your significant other, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with your clothing choices. I would not suggest buying matching clothing but you do want to coordinate your outfits. Try picking one or two colors and pair them with denim, black, white and tans. Trends are fun but sticking to a more classic style is never a bad idea.
You need to ask yourself what is our couples style. Are you a romantic couple, are you adventurous, wild and bold, or are you more one the casual side? This question should be your main factor in picking out what to wear. If you are a romantic kind of couple jeans and a solid color casual top wont really showcase your couple style and accurately depict your relationship. Most photographers give you the choice of an outfit change and my advise would be to try something casual and a bit dressed up so you have the best of both worlds. I am ALL about motion and movement ladies this is where a dress or a skirt will do amazing things! For you more casual ladies you can still find a casual dress so you are still being true to who you are as a couple, AND still get some more dressed up photos!
We want your love for your significant other to stand out above all else. Remember, this is your moment to represent yourselves as a couple and to visually capture your, so-in-love-it’s-crazy bliss. Wear what makes you happy, what makes you feel beautiful in your skin, and what will photograph well between the both of you!
